Do You Need Amazon A+ Content?
I get asked about A+ (Amazon’s design function) all the time by authors I work with, whether they’re published through a big UK house, a small press or going it alone.
The question: ‘Do I need A+ on my Amazon page?’ is the most common.
The short answer is yes, but with a few conditions that are worth taking seriously.
A+ content can strengthen your brand, lift your sales, and help readers understand exactly what they’re getting (in other words, positioning). It’s also one of the few pieces of retail real estate that authors who self-publish can shape themselves, so it’s worth doing well.
Basically, think of your Amazon A+ as a companion set of images/descriptions to your retailer page that supports the reader rather than pushing them too hard.
First, some rules that trip authors up
Amazon are quite strict about what you can and can’t do when it comes to A+ design. If you break the rules, your A+ will be rejected or quietly removed, which is frustrating after all the design work that goes into it.
